Your older DV7 is not supported for HP Software and Drivers on Windows 10.
HP Support Assistant cannot find what is not there and cannot make sense of the actual source of the problem (No Updates).
If you have not done so, open HP Support Assistant > Settings and switch off the checks for Updates.
You can also opt to remove the HPSA icon from the Taskbar.
If you ever want it, you can still find HP Support Assistant in Windows Start (Windows key).
Whether or not HPSA provides any other benefit to your computer is something you can decide.

Thanks for your quick response. Yes my DV7 was not delivered with Windows 10. I installed Windows 10 when MS put out the free Windows 10 upgrade offer months ago. Sorry Dragon-Fur, that you did not understand my post, I'll try to work it out. I now know my DV7 may not support some Windows 10 elements.

You are welcome.
Ask a new question - explain what is not working and that you understand you the DV7 doesn't provide drivers for Windows 10.
In some cases, using a driver from a previous OS version will work fine. We do have Experts that excel in this area - I am not one of them. I can stumble around a bit on the subject, but it is not a specialty.
If you are desperate and do not get the information you need,
If there is a Windows 8.x driver of the type you need, try that.
Stay Safe.
