Hi @chaberju,

Thank you for the response.

I understand you want to use Windows Hello facial recognition with the HP TrueVision HD camera on your HP 15s-fq5xxx laptop. Let’s go through the steps and requirements.

a. Check Hardware Compatibility

Windows Hello requires an IR (infrared) camera for facial recognition.

Many HP TrueVision HD cameras are standard webcams, not IR cameras.

If your laptop only has a standard TrueVision HD camera, it cannot support Windows Hello facial login.

b. Check in Device Manager

Press Win + X → Device Manager → Cameras.

Look for something like HP IR Camera or Windows Hello compatible camera.

If it only shows HP TrueVision HD Camera, facial recognition via Windows Hello won’t work.

c. Set Up Windows Hello (if compatible)

Go to Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Windows Hello Face.

Click Set up → Get started and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the option is grayed out or missing, your camera is not compatible.

d. Alternative Options

You can use Windows Hello PIN or Fingerprint login if your laptop has a fingerprint sensor.

For facial recognition, you would need an external IR camera that supports Windows Hello.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Thank you for confirming! 😊

Since your HP TrueVision HD camera isn’t an IR camera, Windows Hello facial recognition won’t be supported on your laptop. As alternatives, you can still use a Windows Hello PIN or, if available, the fingerprint sensor for quick and secure sign-in.

If you’d like facial recognition, an external Windows Hello-compatible IR camera can be used with your laptop.

Wishing you a smooth experience with your device, and have a great day! 🚀

Best regards,
