What are you trying to do ? It does not make any sense to do those things (one or the other) without knowing the result at the end (what for).

 laptop only comes with about 64 gigabytes i am  trying to gain more space,i think the solution is to purchase a bigger internal hard and install it or purchase a external hard drive
