Hi community,

I have recently purchased a HP Laptop 15 da0326tu  model laptop running with Microsoft Windows 10 Home OS64bit and from the moment it has been started, I have been observing extremely slow performance issue being caused by above 80% memory usage and sometimes 100% disk usage showing in "Task Manager".

There isn't anything being installed on the system yet, and still its taking ages to open any utility window (task manager, system properties etc.) with really poor performance. I am continuously observing 100% Disk usage without high memory usage even running anything. This doesn't seems to be an healthy scenario.

Thanks,

Ashish

The specs of your machine is

    https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06097492

which is a slow machine as today standard. It has 4 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) of RAM and  1 TB 5400 rpm SATA.

Because it only has

  • 4GB of RAM therefore the swap in/out occurs very often and
  • slow (only 5400rpm) drive makes machine has to spin harder to get data (swap in/out above).

You can make it runs better by upgrading RAM first (more RAM, less swap in/out)

(a) add 4GB more to slot 2 (total 8 GB),

(b) install 8GB each to both slots (total 16GB),

(c) Install 16GB each to both slots (total 32GB)

using the following compatible RAM

4GB:   https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-daxxxx-models-%2815-da0000---15-da0099-intel-core%29/CT12494390

16GB: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-daxxxx-models-%2815-da0000---15-da0099-intel-core%29/CT12494591

32GB:  https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-daxxxx-models-%2815-da0000---15-da0099-intel-core%29/CT12494569

The next thing you can do:

  •  replace 1TB HDD with 1TB 2.5" SSD  or
  • add the following 1TB M.2 SSD to your machine and keep 1TB HDD

Regards.
