HP Compaq 6730b Notebook PC
Ubuntu LTS

Hi,

I own this old model and I'm currently running Xubuntu 22.04 LTS on it (GNU/Linux). I would like to update the BIOS on this device. The current BIOS version is F.17 and I would like to update to F.20. I have 4 GB DDR2 ram, an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 CPU and a 120 GB SSD.

Is there a way to do that without installing Windows?

Hello Guys,

I solved the problem!

So first I had to create a bootable Windows 10 USB with Rufus then I had to insert it to the laptop. Second I had to press rapidly F9 to choose the booting device in the BIOS menu. I choose "Boot from EFI file" or something like that. Then I choose Windows 10 EFI file to boot Windows 10 then install the OS to my system.

For some reason the system didn't want to identify any of my previous USB sticks. I created Windows 7 and even XP bootable pendrives but none of them worked.
