Hi @Omid22

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are the steps to activate and troubleshoot the camera on a Windows computer:

Check Physical Camera Controls

  • If your computer has a physical camera switch or button, ensure it is turned on.
  • Some laptops also have a function key (often marked with a camera icon) that enables or disables the camera.

Verify Camera Privacy Settings

  • Open SettingsPrivacy & securityCamera.
  • Make sure Camera access is turned on.
  • Confirm that the app you are trying to use has permission to access the camera.

Confirm Device Manager Status

  • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging devices.
  • If the camera is listed, right-click it and select Enable device (if disabled).
  • If you see a yellow warning icon, right-click and choose Update driver.

Update Camera Drivers

  • In Device Manager, right-click the camera → Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  • Restart the computer after updating.

Check Antivirus or Security Software

  • Some antivirus programs may block camera access.
  • Open your antivirus settings and confirm that camera access is not restricted.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Open SettingsSystemTroubleshootOther troubleshooters.
  • Run the Camera troubleshooter if available.

Test with Another Application

  • Try opening the camera in the Camera app from the Start menu.
  • If it works there, the issue may be with the specific application you were using.

Restart the Computer

  • A simple restart can refresh drivers and services, allowing the camera to be detected properly.

By following these steps, the camera should be activated and ready for use.
