I have decided to leave the anoying "HP Smart Adapter" prompt alone so every time I plug in my HP I am reminded why I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRODUCT AGAIN!  Unbelievable that a brand new out of the box using the supplied power adapter I get that notice.  The first time I saw it it took about 30 minutes of my life to investigate and learn that this has been an issue that HP has not addressed since 2011!

HP FIX THIS PROBLEM!

Deleting files may get rid of the message but the problem still exists in that the unit runs slower when it senses insufficient power.

HP Smart Adapter (nag screen)

This problem occurred after return from HP repair center for other issues...
It did not happen before the computer was sent in for repair...

When plugged in the AC adapter a Black Screen pops-up suggestinag that there is a problem with the AC adapter...
Low power/Low voltage/ and etc "A problem"  alarm issue. Or upgrade to Smart Adapter more watts/power

HP Tech Support solution is to Disable the Alarm reporting feature.
Go to Task Manager  (control alt del)
Select Task Manager
Select Startup Tab
Select HP Message Sevices and Disable it
Restart Computer (reboot)
To test, plug in charge and unplug charger the Nag Screen will not appear again and disppear when unplugged.
The reverse enable the services

This also disables the HP Message serve, a bad idea. other problem will not showup when they happen.

This is no way to fix such issues.. Bad produce concept....

Provide an approved and adequate charger when purchasing an expenive laptop, don't try to upsell product with nag screens.

Then they have the guts to toss in a $10 off coupon on $60 or more purchase..     CMA

This nag screen issue is another way to tell me NEVER by another HP produce...  I no longer trust HP products

Update>>>>>>>>>>>>>

As seen with the issues above, it appears the solution as to:

Remove battery

Disconnect Charger Unit

Attempt to power up unit with nothing connected

Then install battery, power up laptop, no nag screens found...

Until next time... This is stll a flakey fix activities, but it worked on my HP Laptop...

Beats the turn message system OFF concept by Tech Support....

With the Message System enabled no more nap screens...

Next Tech Support concept...

If you check engine light is on in your car remove indicator lamp, problem solved!!!!  UNTIL!!!

I got this message for several days every time I turned on my computer.

After reading here that it indicated a power-related problem (not some sort of HP sales pitch), I double-checked that my computer's AC power adapter was properly connected to my computer. I gently pushed the connector into its receptacle on the side of the computer and discovered that it had not been all the way in. With that, the message immediately went away.

Why can't error messages speak English?

My laptop has been in for repair now three times in 60 days...Other issurs.  They changed the motherboard three times now... I whined enough they finally included a new power supply on the third trip, with a 95 Watt supply, that fixed the nag screen issue BS.  The 95 Watt supply appears to be the correct one that should have been included with the laptop in the beginning to times...  The 65 watt one is a joke, it should have never being include with the laptop in the beginning, bad ideal by HP!!    MAKE HP PROVIDE THE CORRECT ON AT NO COST...

I, too, suddenly got this message after unplugging my computer to move it to another room.  When I plugged it in, this message popped up, and I had never gotten it before. I checked in these discussion boards and found this answer in Message 14 above that was easy enough to check, that the power cord was not plugged in all the way and thought I would check that out first. Sure enough in moving the computer the adapter cord had come loose in the middle. so I pushed it back in.  I can't say whether it will work or not because I don't know if the message will show again. But I have to assume that it is likey the cause for my message since the cord was indeed loose. I will just have to wait and see if this fixed it, but thank you AverageUser for the assistance. I hope it helps others too.

I am using the HP Smart Adapter that came with the laptop.  Why would the HP Smart Adapter that came with laptop be insufficient to properly run the laptop.  The message stared appearing about two years after purchase.

NOTE: If the HP Smart Adapter message is displayed and you are using the adapter provided with the product, then update to the latest BIOS version for your model.

Worth a shot
