I don't think that is possible because I believe the warranty can not be transferred.
But, you will have to verify this by contacting HP Customer Support directly.

Thanks for that, but surely that cannot be true. If a person buys a laptop, and it's still within the parameters of the warranty, surely the new owner of the laptop also has jurisdiction over the warranty.
Do you know if HP if email support?
If they don't have email support then probably think twice about sticking with HP.

You're asking a specific warrant\y questions and warranties are not generalized like that. Some warranties transfer; some do not.
