 I would recommend that you open the on-screen/virtual keyboard in your OS (e.g. in Windows) to see where the @ symbol is depending on the language you use.

 

You might contact HP Support to have the keyboard (keyboard layout) changed so that your keys are where you are used them to be (e.g. UK layout, US layout, European layout, French layout, etc).
