Hello everyone, whenever i was trying to change my omen gaming hub GPU mode from integrated to hybrid, it didn't make a change, as my windows display was still saying it was connected to the integrated graphics. Whenever i try to change the settings on NVIDIA Control Panel to Highest Performance NVIDIA Processor, it does nothing. I tried changing my PhysX configuration to the 4060, but it still shows that the laptop display is connected to the integrated graphics. I even tried booting up the BIOS and changing it, but it didn't work.

Hi @saeedhutchinson

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when you’ve tried multiple settings but the laptop still insists on using integrated graphics instead of the RTX 4060.

Thank you for the effort you’ve already put in with Omen Gaming Hub, NVIDIA Control Panel, and BIOS. Let’s go through a structured set of steps together to help ensure the discrete GPU is used properly.

Step 1: Update Graphics Drivers

  • Download and install the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 drivers directly from NVIDIA.
  • Also update the Intel integrated graphics drivers from HP’s support page for your Omen 16.

Step 2: Configure Windows Graphics Settings

  • Go to Start > Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
  • Under Custom options for apps, add your game or application.
  • Set the graphics preference to High performance (NVIDIA GPU).
  • Restart the application to apply the change.

Step 3: Use Omen Gaming Hub GPU Mode

  • Open Omen Gaming Hub.
  • Navigate to Performance Control > GPU Switch.
  • Select Discrete GPU only mode (not Hybrid).
  • Restart the laptop after applying the change.

Step 4: Verify GPU Usage

  • Launch a game or GPU‑intensive application.
  • Open Task Manager > Performance > GPU.
  • Check if the RTX 4060 shows activity.
  • If the integrated GPU shows idle while the RTX 4060 is active, the switch is successful.

Step 5: PhysX and Control Panel Settings

  • In NVIDIA Control Panel, set Manage 3D Settings > Preferred graphics processor to High‑performance NVIDIA processor.
  • Under PhysX configuration, select the RTX 4060.
  • Apply changes and restart the system.

Step 6: BIOS Confirmation

  • Restart the laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Under Advanced > Graphics Options, confirm that Hybrid Graphics or Discrete GPU is enabled depending on your preference.
  • Save changes and exit.

By following these steps, you can ensure the RTX 4060 is prioritized for demanding applications while the integrated GPU handles lighter tasks. The key is combining Windows graphics settings with Omen Gaming Hub’s GPU mode and verifying usage in Task Manager.
