Video RAM comes in two very different forms depending on the laptop.

In some, the video chip does not have its own VRAM chips and reuses the system memory.  In these cases, there are options in the BIOS settings to decide how much system memory to allocate.

In others, the video chip is on a separate card that also has its own VRAM chips.  These do not reuse the system memory and the amount of VRAM is fixed by what is on that card.  In these cases, there are no options in the BIOS to change the settings.
