How to get dried basil polish off the outer cover of a Chromebook

We used nail polish to put my son's name on his laptop for school thinking it was better than marker and can't get it off.

I am sorry this happened.

Well, it's nail polish.

You'd have to use nail polish remover to "get it off" the surface.

The problem with using "remover" is that nail polish remover is either acetone or an alternate non-acetone concentrate that also might eat or mar plastic and / or metal.  You certainly do not want to get polish remover of any type near the display area or the keyboard.

In other words, there might not be be a good solution.

Different manufacturers do make computers out of different materials - none of them are supposed to be marked with nail polish.

What to do?

Honestly, I can't recommend a method that would work without possibly destroying the surface of the case.

You could try covering the mess (artwork, name, whatever) with another permanent paint - one block of color might be better than whatever markings are on the case at the moment.  You could also cover the unwanted nail polish with a nice sticker that your son likes.  Depends on the sticker whether that works, looks OK, and is permanent (won't fray).
