- What is the "intended way" to type these symbols?
- How can these symbols be typed without accidentally starting entire applications such as: Co-Pilot, and Snipping Tool, when trying to type these characters?
Presently, this keyboard experience is buggy at best.

Hi @DerpDerp,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand that on your HP Omni Book Ultra Flip 14-inch 2-in-1 Laptop running Windows 11, typing certain symbols without triggering other applications can be tricky due to keyboard shortcuts that are mapped to open specific applications. Here are some suggested ways to avoid accidentally launching applications:
- Turn off Windows Key Shortcuts: You can temporarily disable certain shortcuts that involve the Windows key:
- Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode.
- Enable Game Mode, which sometimes prevents interrupting key shortcuts.
- Use On-Screen Keyboard for Symbols:
- Open the on-screen keyboard by typing osk in the search box.
- Use this virtual keyboard to type the required symbols to avoid shortcut conflicts.
- Modify Hot Keys Setup:
- If certain applications like Co-Pilot or Snipping Tool are launching unexpectedly, consider remapping these shortcuts:
- Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize.
- Navigate to Keyboard and look for settings associated with function keys (if available).
- Using Touch Keyboard Layout:
- Enable the touch keyboard via Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and turning on the Touch keyboard.
- Use this for typing special symbols without triggering other functions.
- Use Alt Codes:
- If you are familiar with Alt codes, using the numeric keypad can help type symbols (Alt + numeric code sequence).
- Use the link for more help: Getting to know your computer | HP® Support
- If you are familiar with Alt codes, using the numeric keypad can help type symbols (Alt + numeric code sequence).
These methods can help minimize interference from predefined key bindings, allowing you to type special characters more freely. If your experience remains inconsistent, the keyboard shortcuts may be hard-wired at a deeper system level, which may be addressed in future updates or patches from HP or Microsoft.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

How can the keyboard experience be modified to mirror that of HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0016no as closely as possible?
There are several problems:
- Fn + Left Shift + End
- Problem: This triggers Fn lock.
- Intended behaviour: Should select text.
- Fn + Shift + L
- Problem: This triggers Print Screen.
- Intended behaviour: Should type ">"
This laptop is keyboard is useless as-is. Please provide detailed steps to make it useful.
