Hello. I have a HP Pavilion 15-cs1004na
I recently came across a report that says your HP System Event Utility needs to be updated to a version above 1.4.33 to prevent a local attacker from hacking you: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06559359
I've not been able to find any information anywhere on how to update it though.
Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Thank you.

1) I just searched the word "softpaq" and I'm told it's a discontinued download manager, will I need it for this?

2) Do I need to uninstall the previous version of "hp system event utility" first?

You're very welcome.

1. Discontinued download manager...Not true.  Softpaq is long version for 'sp'

I downloaded the file on that link earlier to make sure it was still valid.

Softpaq is just what HP calls all of their file downloads--30 years ago and even today.

I'm thinking they named the file downloads after 'Compaq.'

HP bought out/merged with Compaq many years ago.

2.  You shouldn't have to uninstall the existing version.

If you need to uninstall the existing version, you will be prompted to do so after you run sp101543.

Thanks for making that clearer, much appreciated.
