Hi when I plug my laptop in the charging light doesn't show anything and the laptop won't switch on but when I hold the block bit of my charger to my ear it makes the noes as if there's electric going though it.

Do a hard reset: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01684768#c01684768_nonremovablebatt
Try with another compatible AC adapter.
Use another AC power outlet.

If you've already done my previous suggestions - replace AC adapter charger and HP battery,
Only other thing you can do is to reseat hard drive and RAM module
If no joy, I would suggest you to get it checked by board level technician.
