Hi, so my envy started stuffing up during boot so i wiped ssd, then it was undetectable afterwards. Ive put other crucial ssds into the laptop to try fix the issue but all ssds arent being detected. Anybody know a solution?

Hi @zalonta1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation clearly. Based on your HP Envy laptop’s behavior—SSD not being detected after a clean wipe, and replacement SSDs also failing to show up—this points to a firmware or configuration issue rather than a hardware fault, especially since multiple SSDs are affected.

Here’s a structured approach to help resolve it:

1. Reset BIOS to Default Settings

  • Power on the laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS Setup
  • Navigate to the Exit tab
  • Select Load Setup Defaults
  • Save and exit

This clears any residual boot flags or misconfigured storage settings.

2. Check Storage Configuration

  • In BIOS, go to the Advanced > Storage Configuration section
  • Ensure SATA Mode is set to AHCI (not RAID or Intel RST unless specifically required)
  • Save and exit

If AHCI doesn’t work, try switching temporarily to RAID, save, and check if the SSD is detected.

3. Use HP Diagnostics

  • Power on and press Esc repeatedly
  • Select F2 for HP Hardware Diagnostics
  • Run the Storage Test
  • If the SSD isn’t listed, it confirms a detection issue at the firmware level

4. Test SSD in External Enclosure

  • Use a USB-to-NVMe or SATA adapter
  • Connect the SSD to another PC
  • Check if it appears in Disk Management or Device Manager

This confirms whether the SSD itself is functional.

5. Install Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver

If you're using an 11th Gen Intel processor, Windows setup may not detect the SSD without this driver:

  • Download the Intel RST Driver
  • Extract it to a USB drive
  • During Windows installation, click Load Driver and point to the USB

This method has resolved similar issues for other HP Envy users.

You're on the right track—just need to align the firmware and driver layers.
