I recommend that you select the RTM version which stands for 'Release To Market.'

Hi:

See if this info from Microsoft is of help to you:

Looks like you may need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 program.

Hi:

You don't need to do any of that svf stuff.

Just download and save the W8.1 Source ISO file (step 1).

Then use the free Rufus utility from the link I posted to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive so you can boot from it, and install W8.1.

Set up Rufus the way you see it in the illustration for Windows installations.

You have the option to set the partition scheme to MBR or GPT.

Use the GPT partition scheme if you want to enable secure boot.

Set the file system to NTFS

should I just download the first one and run rufus? Just to make sure

HP Recommended

Sorry it took a bit to reply.

Yes, try that.

It says that you need to apply those patches to the ISO fie using that extractor software to apply the patches, but if the file installs, Windows update will apply whatever updates are needed.

I downloaded the ISO file and it seems to be pretty complete to me at 3.6 GB.

I was able to create a bootable USB installation flash drive with the ISO file and Rufus.

I am going to test it on another PC just to see if it will boot from it and get me to the installation screen.

I tried booting from the flash drive I created with Rufus and just the ISO file and it would not boot from it.

I don't get it because it looks like all of the files are there on the flash drive.
