Hi @YTSS ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the numpad on your HP Pavilion Gaming laptop is not working but the hardware test has passed, it suggests that the issue is likely software-related or related to specific settings. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Num Lock Key

  • Ensure Num Lock is Enabled: Look for the Num Lock key on your keyboard and press it. Many laptops indicate its status with an LED or an on-screen notification.
  • Test the Numpad After Enabling: If Num Lock is off, the numpad won't function as expected.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers

  1. Update Drivers:
    • Press Win + X > Device Manager.
    • Expand Keyboards.
    • Right-click your keyboard driver > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  2. Reinstall Drivers:
    • In Device Manager, right-click your keyboard driver > Uninstall device.
    • Restart your laptop; Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Test in External Applications

  • Try using the numpad in an external application (e.g., Notepad, Calculator).
  • If it works elsewhere, the issue might be specific to the software you're using.

Verify Keyboard Layout Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
  2. Ensure the correct keyboard layout is selected (e.g., US-QWERTY).
  3. If incorrect, add the correct layout and set it as default.

Check Accessibility Settings

  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
  • Ensure Mouse Keys is turned off. If enabled, the numpad may function as a mouse.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. Install any pending updates and restart your laptop.

Reset the Keyboard Settings

  1. Open the HP OMEN Gaming Hub (if installed).
  2. Navigate to the Peripherals or Keyboard section.
  3. Reset the keyboard settings to default.

Test in BIOS

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter the BIOS.
  • Test the numpad in the BIOS screen (e.g., using arrow keys or numerical entry, if supported).
    • If it works in BIOS, the issue is with the operating system or software.

External Keyboard

  • Connect an external USB keyboard with a numpad.
  • If the external numpad works, the issue may be hardware-related on your laptop's built-in keyboard.

Perform a System Restore

  • If the issue started recently, perform a System Restore to a point where the numpad was functioning correctly.
  • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
