Hi @ronlee1030,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it feels when HP Support Assistant opens smoothly for every device except that one 17‑inch laptop. If HP Support Assistant is stuck on the loading screen when trying to access device specifications, it could be due to several factors. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Ensure HP Support Assistant is Updated

2. Windows Update Compatibility

  • Since you mentioned that your laptop was upgraded to Windows 11 Pro, verify that your HP Support Assistant version is compatible with Windows 11. Sometimes, software updates are needed post-OS upgrades to ensure compatibility.

3. Reinstall HP Support Assistant

  • If updating does not resolve the issue, consider uninstalling and reinstalling HP Support Assistant:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    2. Locate HP Support Assistant in the list, right-click, and select Uninstall.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Download and install the latest version from Official HP® Support.

4. Device Manager Check

  • Use Device Manager to manually verify if the necessary drivers for your hardware specifications are installed. Sometimes, missing or outdated drivers can cause these issues:
    1. Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
    2. Check for any devices that have a yellow exclamation mark or are listed under Unknown Devices.
    3. Right-click on each device and select Update Driver Software.

5. System File Check

  • Use Windows System File Checker to repair corrupted system files that might be preventing HP Support Assistant from retrieving the device specifications:
    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

6. Corrupted HP Support Assistant File

Sometimes the specific configuration or cache files get corrupted. The best way to resolve this is to navigate through your user's AppData directory and clear the HP Support Assistant's cache. You might need additional assistance to perform this task safely.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
