Hi Community!

I have 1 AC charging port on the back of my laptop and 2 USB C for charging and Data transfer. Now i want to use the USB-C for charging but it doesnt work. I tried different cables which all work on other devices but not on my Laptop. I also used 65W chargers because i thought maybe it is just too weak, but that didnt change anything.

Appreciate your help!

If your laptop has USB-C ports, but you're facing issues with charging through them, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

  1. Verify USB-C Port Capabilities:

    • Not all USB-C ports support charging. Check your laptop’s documentation or manufacturer's website to confirm which USB-C port (if any) supports power delivery (PD) for charging.
  2. Use a Compatible Charger:

    • Ensure you're using a USB-C charger that supports power delivery and matches your laptop's voltage and wattage requirements. Sometimes, a 65W charger may not be sufficient if your laptop requires more power.
  3. Check Cable Compatibility:

    • Not all USB-C cables support power delivery. Ensure you are using a cable that can carry enough power for charging.
  4. Inspect the USB-C Ports:

    • Examine the USB-C ports on your laptop for any visible debris or damage. Clean them gently if necessary.
  5. Update Firmware and Drivers:

    • Check for and install any available firmware updates and hardware drivers for your laptop, particularly those related to power management or the USB-C ports.
  6. BIOS/UEFI Settings:

    • Access your laptop’s BIOS/UEFI settings to see if there are any options related to USB-C charging that may be disabled.
  7. Perform a Power Reset:

    • Shut down the laptop, unplug all cables and peripherals, and remove the battery if possible. Hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reconnect the battery and power up the laptop.

Do keep us posted on whether these steps resolve the issue. We’ll be happy to assist you with the next steps.
