Hi,

it's been months that my HP PC touchpad isn't working properly, and today I wanted to solve the problem: tried uninstalling it from device management, restarted pc but nothing.

then I went to the HP site and downloaded the correct driver for my device, but if I download the latest one it gives me an error saying that my system is not compatible.

If I download the slightly older one it tells me that it's not possible, because first you have to uninstall the new one from the application installation, but it doesn't appear there: so I can't install either the old driver or the new one, and my touchpad doesn't work.

How can I solve this?

If I uninstall it, when I then try to install the new one it tells me that there is a newer version and to uninstall that one first.

Could it be because it forces me to restart? It gives me that even before restarting, and if I try to do it after restarting there is already the new one.

Anyway, the touchpad works in movement, but not in clicking: does that help?

I remember that it all started with inhibiting the touch when I had the mouse attached, because I would accidentally hit it with my fingers while typing and it would mess me up. From then on I couldn't get it to work properly.

Thanks

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to back up your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
