Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I did an HP Support Assistant update last night, and am now getting a Windows notification upon startup.

I am receiving an error message: "There is a file or folder on your computer called "C:\Program" which could cause certain applications to not function correctly. Renaming it to "C:\Program 1" would solve this problem. Would you like to rename it now?"

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Does it mention which program is causing a problem?

Please run the SFC scan and if the issue persists try creating a New User Account and check if the issue persists on the New Account

SFC Scan: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker

New User Account: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4026923/windows-10-create-a-local-user-or-administrator-acc...

Keep me posted

Thank you

Thank you for your response to my inquiry. We (my daughter and I) have just used the system file checker utility. It said it found corrupted files and fixed them, but when I restarted my computer, the same error message was there. Here is a screenshot of the system file checker results, as well as the error I've been getting since April 2nd, when I performed the HP Support Assistant updates.

Here is an additional screenshot of the C: drive folders. It's worth noting that this mysterious 2 KB "Program" file wasn't there before April 2nd, and according to its properties, the "dism" file that was apparently from 2018 was modified at the same time.

We have an alternate user on this same computer for my daughter, and apparently the same "File Name Warning" appears when we log into her user as well, so I am not sure if creating a third user would fix it.

I look forward to your reply and any thoughts that you might have.

Thank you.

Since the issue appears on another User Account, it's not required to create another account

The SFC scan could not fix the Corrupted Windows Files. You might have to perform a Reset and then run HPSA again
