I had to reset my windows 11 laptop. After I did my display is not operating properly. Please help

Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, after a reset, Windows may not have installed all updates properly. Make sure your system is up to date:

  • Go to Settings: Click on the Start menu, then click on Settings (gear icon).
  • Update & Security: Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates: Click on Check for updates and let Windows download and install any available updates.

Update Device Drivers

Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause display and other issues. Here’s how you can update them:

  • Device Manager: Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Display Adapters: Expand the Display adapters section, right-click on your display adapter, and select Update driver.
  • Search automatically: Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software.

Adjust Display Settings

If the display is not operating properly, you might need to adjust display settings:

  • Resolution: Right-click on the desktop, select Display settings, and ensure the resolution is set correctly for your monitor.
  • Scaling: Check scaling settings under Display settings to ensure they match your preferences.

Check for Malware

Erratic behavior and pop-ups could be signs of malware. Run a thorough scan using Windows Security (Windows Defender) or a third-party antivirus program:

  • Windows Security: Type "Windows Security" in the search bar, open it, and run a Full Scan.

Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs

Some programs may start automatically and cause issues. Disable unnecessary startup programs:

  • Task Manager: Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager.
  • Startup tab: Go to the Startup tab, right-click on unnecessary programs, and select Disable.

Perform a System Restore (if necessary)

If the issues persist and started after a recent change (like resetting Windows), you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous point:

  • Search: Type "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and select Create a restore point.
  • System Restore: Click on System Restore and follow the prompts to restore your system to a point before the issues started.

 

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the erratic behavior and display issues on your HP laptop after resetting Windows 11.
