Insert key not on laptop

I'm trying to find the equivlent to the insert button, so I can stop my text typing over itself on documents and emails.

I understand you need to know where is insert key on your laptop.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Please try the steps recommended below.

To engage the insect key, you will need to use it combination with fn key... so now your key combination would be
To Paste = Shift+fn+prt sc (ins)
To Copy = Ctrl+fn+prt sc (ins)

Also, you can use the onscreen keyboard as an alternate and enable the insert key.

Open On-Screen Keyboard in PC settings.

Step 1: Enter PC settings.

Step 2: Select Ease of Access in the settings.

Step 3: Choose Keyboard, and tap the switch under On-Screen Keyboard to turn it on.

That is literally one of the dumbest HELP tries I have ever witnessed.   I say this because I am trying to INSERT in a long message that I wrote.  

INSERT means "to go back in the middle of a text and change it without overwriting the entire passage".  Keyboards used to have an INSERT key.  Mine doesn't and I didn't learn anything from "copy-and-paste" Mr. Robot.

Literally press and hold fn key, and press ins/prt sc key, and release at the same time. This is how you turn it on or off.

Also yeah, that robot was stupid xD

Thank you.  With my eyesight I could not see the tiny INS on the PRT SC button.  I just assumed it was just another "F" key.  Much appreciated!

Kindly help me.. Am using this new Hp ProBook laptop, but it doesnt have the insert key on the keyboard.

I have tried ctrl+fn+prtscr but it has failed.

I even tried fn+prt scr which i was using with my previous version of Hp, but it has also failed.

Please help

I came here looking for info on how to utilize the "overtype" function in MS Word.  Eventually, I figured out another step necessary on my HP Laptop:

In MS Word, go to File, Options, Advanced Options, Editing Options, Check box for "Use the insert key to control overtype mode, Check the box for "Use overtype mode"

Select "OK" at bottom of screen.

Now the previous directions to press the fn and ins keys and release simultaneously work for me.  Hope this helps anyone still struggling with ability to "overtype" from laptop keyboard.
