📄 Technical Fault Report – HP EliteBook 830 G5
Model: HP EliteBook 830 G5
Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
Storage: 256GB SSD
RAM: 8GB DDR4
BIOS Mode: UEFI
Boot Configuration: GPT + UEFI
BIOS/Firmware: Updated via system BIOS prompt
Diagnostics: HP UEFI Diagnostic Tool, CrystalDiskInfo
Issue Severity: Critical – System Stability and Storage Reliability
🔧 1. Hard Drive Detection Failure
On initial boot, system displayed “No Hard Disk Found” when entering diagnostics.
Upon retrying, system detected the SSD and passed diagnostics.
CrystalDiskInfo Results:
Status: Good (100%)
Temperature: 40°C
Total Host Reads/Writes: 207GB/195GB
Power-On Count: 3
Power-On Hours: 5
HP UEFI Diagnostics:
Extensive Test passed with “Drive is Good”
No bad sectors or errors reported
⚠ Concern: The initial “no disk detected” error indicates possible intermittent connection issues, firmware bugs, or SSD controller failure despite clean health status.
🔵 2. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Post-Windows Update
System began crashing after applying a Windows 11 cumulative update.
The BSOD occurs even when SSD tests pass.
Affected functions: random crashes while booting or during light tasks.

Secure Boot was temporarily disabled; Legacy Boot temporarily enabled for troubleshooting.
Current boot environment is UEFI only (Legacy now disabled). problem still exist
TPM and Secure Boot currently active (can be re-verified).
Changed back to Secure Boot enabled and Legacy Support Disabled, problem still exists
🛠 4. Troubleshooting Steps Taken
BIOS factory reset ✅
BIOS/Firmware update completed ✅
HP UEFI extensive storage diagnostics passed ✅
CrystalDiskInfo health check (SSD OK) ✅
Windows sfc /scannow run ✅
Secure Boot toggle tested ✅
Legacy Boot support enabled then disabled again ✅
Monitored thermals (SSD runs cool at 40°C) ✅
