HP G62 320
Linux

Hi,

Is my HP G62 320 AMD 64bit laptop compatible with 64bit virtualization?  Because I'm running Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE 64bit and Virtual Box, I also enabled SVM from bios.  Other people are telling me I have to enable other options in bios that do not seem to exist in my bios.  I have a 64bit Windows 8 install disc, but Virtual Box is insisting on booting as 32bit and of course Windows 64 is rejecting 32 boot.  My bios seems to be very limited in options.  Or is there a setting in either Mint or Virtual Box that has to be enabled or disabled?

I want to install Windows 8 64 into Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE 64, as virtual.

Someone has to know.

Yes I assume when you are setting up the virtual OS you are not getting the option for a 64 bit version of the guest OS. Check this:

Your laptop either has hardware virtualization capability or not. There is no such thing as 32 bit and 64 bit hardware virtualization. You have a 64 bit processor and your computer can do HW virtualization. See p. 93 of the Manual here:

Manual

You just need to follow the steps above to permit a 64 bit guest OS in virtualbox.
