HP Pavilion x360 15 Convertible PC 15-er1000 (4R5X1AV)

Hi! I recently re-installed Windows on this laptop after a BitLocker problem, and I seem to have a few issues with it.

Firstly, the Fn+Esc keyboard shortcut to show the system specifications no longer works.

Secondly, when installing drivers from hp.ca, even though SupportAssist is installed, the website will just give me the files, whereas before, it would open a window that helped install multiple drivers in queue, at the same time. Product detection on the HP website also no longer works.

Finally, at login (I am not an administrator), I consistently receive a UAC request for HPReadHWDataUninstall to make changes to this device. Pressing no, or entering a PIN doesn't change the result, it happens again at the next login. This does not happen with an administrator account.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi @Bookworm8141,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing several issues after reinstalling Windows on your HP Pavilion X360 15 Convertible PC. Let's address each of these problems step by step.

Fn+Esc keyboard shortcut not working for system specifications

This issue could be due to missing or outdated drivers related to your keyboard or function keys. Here’s what you can do to troubleshoot:

  • Update Drivers: Go to the HP support website (hp.ca), specifically to the drivers section for your laptop model. Download and install the latest drivers for your keyboard and chipset. Look for any specific function key drivers or hotkey software that might be missing.
  • HP Hotkey Support: Sometimes, HP laptops require specific software (like HP Hotkey Support) to enable function keys and shortcuts. Ensure this software is installed and up to date.
  • BIOS Update: In some cases, a BIOS update can resolve issues with function keys. Check if there's a BIOS update available on the HP support website and apply it if necessary (be cautious with BIOS updates and follow instructions carefully).

Issue with driver installation from hp.ca

It seems like the automatic detection and installation feature on the HP website isn’t functioning correctly. Here are alternative steps you can take:

  • Manual Installation: Download the drivers manually from hp.ca and install them one by one. Make sure to select the correct operating system version (e.g., Windows 10 64-bit).
  • Support Assistant: Since you mentioned SupportAssist is installed, try running it to see if it can detect and install any missing drivers automatically. Sometimes, running SupportAssist can trigger it to check for updates and install them.
  • Browser Compatibility: Ensure your web browser is up to date and compatible with the HP website. Sometimes, browser extensions or settings can interfere with the website's functionality.

UAC request for HPReadHWDataUninstall at login

This issue appears to be related to a specific HP utility trying to run with elevated privileges at each login. Since it doesn’t happen with an administrator account, it suggests a permissions issue:

  • Permissions: Check the permissions for the HPReadHWDataUninstall utility or the folder it resides in. Ensure that standard users have appropriate read and execute permissions.
  • Startup Items: Check if HPReadHWDataUninstall is set to run at startup for all users. You can manage startup items in Task Manager or through the Startup folder.
  • HP Support Solutions Framework: This framework sometimes causes such prompts. You might need to reinstall or update the HP Support Solutions Framework from the HP support website.

By systematically addressing each issue with these steps, you should be able to resolve the problems you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion X360 15 Convertible PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
