Hello, the keyboard backlight is not working because the driver which is installed is for a normal keyboard for windows and I have not found a way to install the right driver. What can I do?

Hi, I have a  Laptop Victus 16 s0010nv

Hi @Strakata75,

Thank you for the response.

It’s understandable to look for a specific "driver" when your Victus 16-s0010nv keyboard stays dark, but for this gaming model, the lighting is controlled by the OMEN Gaming Hub software and specialized system utilities rather than a standard Windows keyboard driver.

Toggle the hardware hotkeys.

  • Locate the F4 key on your Victus keyboard, which is the dedicated backlight toggle.
  • Press the F4 key alone, or hold the Fn key while pressing F4 to cycle through the available brightness levels.
  • Ensure your laptop is not in "Battery Saver" mode, as this often automatically disables the keyboard backlight to conserve energy.

Configure Lighting in OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Open the OMEN Gaming Hub application from your Start menu; if you don't have it, download it from the Microsoft Store.
  • Select your Victus 16 from the left-hand menu and navigate to the Lighting tab.
  • Check that the lighting mode is set to Static or another active effect rather than "Off," and ensure the brightness slider is turned up.

Update HP System Event Utility

  • Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and enter your model number 16-s0010nv
  • Download and install the HP System Event Utility under the "Software-Solutions" or "Utility" category, as this software enables the special function keys to communicate with the hardware.
  • Restart your laptop and try the Fn + F4 combination again to see if the lights activate.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Thank you for your help, I have tried all of the above but the backlight does not turn on. The motherboard recently got replaced and from then the backlight does not see to work. I contacted HP and they told me that the problem is the driver.
