Ok. First think to remember is that you only want to run the "Live" Ubunbtu, not install it.
Plug the bootable USB flash drive into an available USB port.
Press the power button and immediately tap the Esc key to invoke the Startup menu.
Press F9 for the Boot options menu.
Select the USB drive with your cursor and let the boot process begin.
Once the Ubuntu code starts loading you will see an installer boot menu
Choose the Run Ubuntu from this USB option.
I don't know if you know anything about Linux.
The default user is Root and the password is Toor.
At minute 8:18 the maker of this video boots into Ubuntu Linux

You are going to use the open source word processing program to create a document. That will let you know that your keyboard is working without issue.
Once that has been determined you can exit Ubuntu and remove the flash drive.
It will be time to consider copying any data you do not want to lose to an external storage device and running an HP recovery.
I do hope that you did create a recovery flash drive by use of the HP Recovery Media creation utility. It isn't the end of the world if you did not.
The HP recover will put your notebook back to the state it was in when you purchased it.
If you did not create a recovery flash drive, you can still:
perform a Windows Reset
or
Download Windows 10 by use of Microsoft's media creator and perform a clean install of Windows 10. YOur activation license is coded into the BIOS. The OS will activate as soon as you go online.
Drivers for your notebook are located at the support portal for your notebook.

You need to provide the storage device unless you don't mind losing your data.
Please don't ask for magic or miracles. 😉
Do yourself a favor and don't bother with DVD or CD disks. They are just not reliable when compared to USB storage devices.
What you use is up to you.
