When I start my laptop, it boots up. You can see the screen slightly flicker but it stays black. I know it's running because the power button is lit up and the caps lock button is blinking. 

I used it about 2 weeks ago to print off some paperwork from emails I got from work. It was fine then. It said it needed an update so I agreed, then set it to update them shut down. 

I unfortunately don't remember the operating system, but it has Intel core 5 and Nvidia if any of that is important.

Connect a TV or external monitor and see if something shows up or --

Turn on, wait a few minutes, then type your PIN and press enter and listen for the windows TaDa.

 

It is probably not booting if the caps lock is blinking
