Good day,

my laptop had a problem with the touchpad that started not working, I think after an update.

After an automatic restoration of previous setup it worked but the laptop instead of automatic suspension or hibernation now always switch off.

The options of suspension, battery and energy saving are correct.

The Windows and HP systems and drivers are updated.

Can you help me?

If your HP laptop is turning off instead of going into suspension or hibernation mode, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

 

  • Check Power Settings: Check the power settings on your laptop to ensure that it is set to go into hibernation or sleep mode when you close the lid or leave it idle for a certain period of time. To do this, go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" > "Change plan settings" and make sure that the "Put the computer to sleep" or "Hibernate" option is selected.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure that all of the drivers on your HP laptop are up to date, particularly the graphics and chipset drivers, which can affect how the laptop goes into hibernation or sleep mode. You can update the drivers through the Device Manager or the HP Support Assistant.
  • Check for Malware: Malware or viruses can interfere with the power settings on your laptop, causing it to turn off instead of going into hibernation or sleep mode. Run a virus scan using your antivirus software to detect and remove any malware.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can also cause your laptop to turn off instead of going into hibernation or sleep mode. Make sure that the laptop is not overheating by checking the temperature using software like Core Temp or HWMonitor. If the laptop is overheating, clean the fan and vents to improve airflow or consider using a cooling pad.
  • Reset Power Settings: If all else fails, you can try resetting the power settings on your laptop to their default values. To do this, go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" > "Restore default settings for this plan."
