Hello,

Recently the USB ports on the left side of my laptop have stopped working. The single port on the right side still works, however, it does not recognize USB 3.0 devices. From what I understand, the left side ports are connected to the motherboard, whereas the right side port is independent, and the left side ports are also the only USB 3.0-valid ports on the laptop.

I have reinstalled Windows, so I can no longer rollback (assuming an update caused this problem). I have disabled and enabled drivers, updated them, deleted them, etc. all to no avail.

Here's a link to what my Device Manager looks like with "show hidden devices" enabled. Seems to be a lot going on, but figuring it all out is beyond me:

Thanks for any help.

To better help you, we would need the exact model number or product number of your laptop/desktop???

Hi there,

The product number is: G8E25PA#ABG

Thanks for the help.

Hi there,

The first two links worked, and installed successfully. The third link, however, failed, and left this error message:

"This platform is not supported."

The left side USB ports are still not working.

Thanks for the help so far!

Right click on USB device (Port reset failed) and uninstall device.

Then reboot.

Did this, ports still not working.

Here's how Device Manager looks now:

I see that removed the USB device (Port reset failed)

Do the same thing with top Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

If that one works do it to the rest.

It seems to have delete the rest of the errors. I haven't uninstalled the others (the ones that didn't have something in brackets after them -- Generic USB Hub, USB Composite Device, and USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)).

I also included the weird Other Devices thing in this screenshot, but note that it has been there this whole time.

Ports are still not working though.

Thanks, and let me know what to do next.

I noticed that you have 2 Unknown devices.

Can you post the hardware ID's for them???
