Hi:

Please post the full model number or product number of your notebook and also let me know if it has an Intel or AMD processor.

Use this guide to find the product number/model number information.

HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support

Note that HP has retired support for the dv5 model series, so I will have to search the HP ftp site to see if there is a BIOS update available.

Also note that the BIOS files will be written to be run on Windows Vista or Windows 7, depending on the model number.

Updating the BIOS when running an unsupported operating system is not recommended since it may destroy your notebook with no chance to recover it.

Thanks alot!

Tried installing it by booting on to freeDos on a pendrive, It didn't work, but will try other ways. Again, thank you for the link.

You can use the free 7-zip file utility to extract the BIOS files from the exe file into a folder.
