Hello all!

I'm running into roadblocks when looking for an answer to the following question, so I am hoping someone here can help lead me in the right direction. Sorry if this board is not the right one for this issue, but it was the closest to matching my situation.

When I purchased this laptop a few years back, I bought a one-time purchase (not a recurring subscription) license of MS Office. Last year, due to project requirements for work, I had to purchase a monthly license for Office 365 for use on a project purchased iPad. This was done via my personal account and expensed to the project. So when the project ended, I canceled that subscription. When that was done the version of Office on my laptop went into an unlicensed state. I don't know how the two licenses got intertwined or otherwise confused, but that is the state I am currently in.

Instead of having to shell out another $150 I'd like to locate the original Product Key to the office instance purchased with the laptop. I have not been able to locate that on HP's support site and when I sent a message to their customer support team, the response I got was basically, "go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp and select the Chat Support to chat with a technical support specialist." On that page I can find no option to actually chat with a person, only the virtual assistant, which provides no useful help for this. The response further states that I can, "go to the forums and ask there. This case is closed."! In short, very NOT helpful!

So, here I am, hoping someone here can help.

Is there a direct link to chat with a support agent that I am just missing?

Is there a way to recover my Product Key from HP's site?

Thanks!

Based on personal experience: Retrieving this information from HP "after the fact", that is, asking HP for old information is usually a dead end.

What else?

If you purchased your computer from HP, the license might have been sent to you in one of the email / order confirmations you received during the order process.
