This laptop replaces an older Lenovo, and we want to install our existing MS-Office as we are used to it and use it on the other desktop PC's in the house.
Am I safe to install the older version alongside the trial Office 365 on this laptop -- (might be interesting to try out in case we decide to upgrade all the PC's)
Or should I uninstall the Office 365 first?
Advice or experience would be most appreciated.

You cannot run two different versions of Office side by side.
I recommend that you read the discussion below, and look at Dragon-Fur's reply, and the link she posted for how to properly remove Office from your PC.
Apparently, you can have issues...

Hi
Personally I would use Belarc Advisor on the Lenovo if you can, and print out all the Licence Details.
Then on the Pavilion for peace of mind.
Then armed with that, I would install LibreOffice on the the new Pavilion (as a backup), then try an install of the version of Office you are familiar with.
