I don't know what else to do.  I receive 75-100 Spam per day, then delete all.  I have changed passwords twice (gmail.com account), deleted Shutterfly, etc.  I am concerned that my HP desk top is in jeopardy.

Changing the Gmail password does not help with this.

 

What has probably happened is that your Email address has somehow leaked to the spammers. Possible ways for this to happen are e.g.:

 

  • You have registered with your Email on a site that is working with the spammers
  • You have registered on a site that has been compromised and the user information stolen and sold to spammers
  • Your computer has been compromised and the information has been stolen directly from your computer/device
  • The computer of someone who has your Email address has been compromised
  • Some shady app on your computer/phone/tablet has access to your Email information

Things you can do:

 

  • Implement filters on Gmail (Google for GMail filters for instructions and samples)
  • Block certain senders on Gmail
  • Report Email as spam on Google
  • Don't use the same password for registering on different sites
  • Scan your system for malware e.g. with AdwCleaner & Bitdefender (free version)

Think of the time when this started. Did you register somewhere just prior or install something etc. Of course there can be lag before the information is spread so you would have to be lucky to find the leaker.

 

People are using their precious remaining lifetime to try and help, so it is common courtesy to come back and tell what the solution eventually was even if you found it elsewhere. It is for the benefit of everyone.
