Microsoft Windows 11

We just brought home a new OmniBook and when I went to set it up, it had a license agreement for McAfee.  I have used it before and do not want to use it again.  Should I still hit I agree and set it up?  Will I be able to uninstall the program easily?

Hi @Gray--Ghost,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It's common for new HP laptops, such as the OmniBook, to come pre-installed with third-party software like McAfee antivirus. If you do not wish to use McAfee, you can decline the license agreement and uninstall the program at any time.

Typically, you can uninstall McAfee software by following these steps on your HP OmniBook:

Open Control Panel: You can access this by searching for "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar.

Navigate to Programs and Features: Once inside the Control Panel, look for "Programs and Features," where you can see a list of all installed software.

Locate McAfee: Scroll through the list to find the McAfee program.

Uninstall: Right-click on the McAfee entry and select "Uninstall/Change." Follow the prompts to completely remove the software from your laptop.

You don't need to accept the license agreement to uninstall McAfee, and declining will not affect your ability to use other features of your OmniBook laptop. If you encounter any issues during uninstallation, you might find additional instructions on McAfee's support site

I hope this helps.
