HP Chromebase 21.5 All-in-One Desktop
Chrome OS

I recently purchased an HP Chromebase 21.5 All-in-One Desktop computer from Amazon. The Microsoft Office 365 Family package was listed as an "add-on' purchase. I purchased it - digitally. I have been trying for 2 hours now to get this software downloaded and installed. I am at the brink of sending all of this back. There is no way this should be this hard. I don't understand why I have to login to a Microsoft account simply to get to Word, Excel or any other application included in this suite. Please help...

I admit I've never seen an "HP Chromebase" desktop.

Had to look up a reference to it:  HP Chromebase All-in-One 22 Review

In the Article:

Like the Chromebooks (laptop shaped devices), the Chromebase runs Chrome OS and not Windows or Mac OS.

Chrome OS has its own rules about what type of software and applications can be installed run in the Chrome Operating System.

You'll need a version of the Microsoft 365 Software, for example, that tolerates and is supported by Chrome OS.

If there is such a thing as Microsoft Office for Chrome OS, Microsoft Support should be able to advise you.

The Microsoft 365 website does NOT include mention of support for Microsoft 365 in Chrome OS...

"Microsoft 365 is compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android."

Microsoft requires that you sign into Office products using a Microsoft account - their rules for using their software.
