I just purchased the hp stream 14 laptop. With the laptop it says it comes with 1 year of Microsoft office. I already have Microsoft office, but would like the free 1 year subscription. Should i be able to activate the free year and tag it onto my already there subscription. If that is possible how can i do that without a product key

Welcome to the HP User Community.
According to the specifications, this is just Trial Software:
HP Stream - 14-cb174wm Product Specifications
Software - Productivity & finance | 1 month trial for new Microsoft Office 365 customers |
Regardless, a "free" offer cannot be added to a current subscription.
If you think this is not true - and that's OK - please do contact Microsoft / Office Support and ask for options...

Some of the ways to “get” Office Software:
- Trial Software that comes with the computer.
An "offer" to try the software, in other words. The license is NOT included in Trial offers.
- Purchase Microsoft Office when you purchase your computer
Look for your license key with your purchase paperwork.
- Receive a “free one year subscription to Office 365 when you purchase the computer (quite rare).
If you have trouble with this exact type of “installed” Office before it has expired,
Contact HP Support for recovery options.
- Purchase Office separately from Microsoft or other merchant.
