HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9X9AV)

My HP Laptop 15s-fq5xxx  runs Windows 11. HP System Event Utility version 1.4.33 is installed, Num Lock OSD indicators are missing. Volume and brightness OSD still work. DISM and SFC completed successfully. Is there a model-specific keyboard OSD component or a recommended reinstall package?

Hi @ankit343

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that the Num Lock on-screen indicator is not appearing on your HP 15s-fq5xxx, while the brightness and volume indicators continue to work.

Meanwhile, kindly try these steps:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, locate HP System Event Utility, uninstall it, and restart the laptop.
  2. Reinstall the appropriate HP System Event Utility/software available for your exact product from HP Support, then restart again.
  3. Open Device Manager > Keyboards, uninstall the listed keyboard device, and restart Windows so that the keyboard driver is reinstalled. HP includes this procedure in its HP Notebook PCs - Keyboard troubleshooting (Windows) guide.
  4. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows > Component Tests > Input Devices > Keyboard Test to verify the keyboard operation.

You can also check Num Lock using the Windows On-Screen Keyboard. HP provides the steps in HP PCs - Enable number lock using the on-screen keyboard.
Kindly refer to the link here for HP Notebook PCs - Keyboard troubleshooting (Windows)

Since your volume and brightness OSD are displaying normally, If Num Lock itself switches on and off correctly and only its pop-up is absent, this points more specifically to the Num Lock notification/OSD behaviour rather than the physical Num Lock key.

I hope this helps.
