Hi @christian1789,

Thank you for the clarification, and you're absolutely right to expect this feature to work smoothly, especially on a high-end device like your HP OmniBook x AI 14 with a Snapdragon processor.

Reinstall “My HP” App

Sometimes a corrupted app installation causes the issue.

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps

Search for My HP

Uninstall it

Reboot your system

Reinstall from Microsoft Store: My HP – Microsoft Store

Check Device Manager for Sensor Status

Press Windows + X > Device Manager

Expand Sensors or Human Interface Devices

Look for entries like:

Presence Sensor

IR Camera or Camera Sensor Driver

Right-click and choose Update driver

Choose Search automatically

If any are missing or disabled, that’s likely the root cause.

Install HP OEM Drivers (Snapdragon-Specific)

You must install Snapdragon-compatible HP drivers, not general Windows ones.

Visit the HP OmniBook x AI 14 Drivers Page

Enter your exact model (e.g., OmniBook x AI 14-ek0xxx)

Download and install:

Chipset / Sensors / System Interface drivers

HP Presence Aware software or services (if listed)

HP Application Driver Pack (sometimes contains hidden sensor services)

If nothing is listed for Presence Detection, that confirms HP hasn't yet published compatible OEM drivers. We'll come back to that in the next step.

Enable Presence Features via Windows Settings (If Available)

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Presence Sensing

Turn on:

Allow apps to access presence sensing

Lock screen when you leave (if listed)

If this section is missing, it indicates the sensor is not recognized at the system level.

I hope this helps.

Hello, my PC is great but in the MY HP application, the presence detector doesn’t work; it doesn’t select any options. I reset it to factory settings with Windows 11 and the HP software, and it still doesn’t work; it doesn’t detect when I leave and also when I come back.

Hi @christian1789,

Thank you for the response.

Try these steps:

Ensure All Necessary Drivers are Installed:

  • Verify that all required drivers for HP Auto Lock and Awake are installed. You can check this in Device Manager.
  • Key drivers needed:
    • Intel Sensor Hub driver
    • Intel Integrated Sensor Solution
    • ISS Dynamic Bus Enumerator
    • HID PCI Minidriver for ISS
    • Sensor Collection V2 (Microsoft Driver)
    • Intel UHD Graphics driver
    • Intel HID Event Filter

Access Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the relevant sections (such as "Sensors" and "System Devices") and ensure there are no issues (yellow exclamation marks or red Xs).

Check Software Installation:

  • Ensure HP Auto Lock and Awake software is installed correctly. If necessary, reinstall the software:
    1. Download the HP Auto Lock and Awake SoftPaq containing the service, app, and provider from the HP website.
    2. Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads and navigate to the product page for your specific model.
    3. Follow on-screen instructions to reinstall the software.

Configure Settings:

  • Open the HP Auto Lock and Awake application to configure the sensor settings:
    • Click the Search icon in the taskbar, type power & sleep in the search box, and then click Power & sleep.
    • Click HP Auto Lock and Awake within the list of Power & sleep settings.
    • Adjust settings for Walk Away Lock and Wake on Approach as needed.

Verify Sensor Angle:

  • Ensure that the notebook lid or monitor is positioned within the correct angle range:
    • Clamshell mode: 60°–140°
    • Stand mode: 240°–320°
  • Correct positioning is crucial for sensor functionality.

Update Windows and HP Software:

  • Check for any Windows and HP software updates that might include fixes for the presence detector.
  • Perform updates through Windows Update and the HP Support Assistant.

Utilize Managed Mode:

  • If your device is in Managed mode, settings may be configured remotely by an IT administrator. Ensure Managed mode is correctly set according to your office environment.

I hope this helps.

Hello Mr. T, I have a Snapdragon PC and I don't have any Intel hardware in my PC, HP auto lmock does not exist either, I think you have mistaken me for another client, thank you for helping me. I called the company Qualcomm, who told me that your OEM drivers are not up to date. Windows Hello works very well, but HP software like My HP is useless since the presence detector does not work? All the drivers have been downloaded. And Windows too. The problem is still there.

Good day, I accepted your solution because I'm fed up, it doesn't work in real life. I paid $1,700 for this PC and it doesn't work, the detection doesn't work, it's nonsense. I made an HP USB key for recovery, I put my PC in factory recovery and it's the same, it's beautiful and very powerful, but it's useless. Windows 11 Arm is not finished and the HP software is in beta, it's shameful, right? I'm going to write an email to HP Corp to tell them that it's not acceptable. $1,700, why are we asking?
