HP Stream 14-cb164wm
Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

I purchased the HP Stream that included free 1 year subscription of Office 365.  At the set up, I was informed that I already had an active version of Office that was set to expire on Sept 1, 2020 and to have my key code available upon expiration.  Now that the program has expired, I only get the option to "Renew" and purchase a new subscription.  How do I get the "FREE" subscription activated?

According to the only data I can find:

Software - Productivity & Finance1 month trial for new Microsoft 365 customers

Operating System

Operating system
Windows 10 S 64

"S" mode Windows

That said,

If you purchased the computer from HP and if the purchase includes the 1 year subscription, you should (likely) have received a key (license) with the email  confirmation / order information.

Your options:

Contact

  1. HP Support

OR

Microsoft Office - Product and License Information

Three ways to “get” Office Software:

  1. Purchase Microsoft Office when you purchase your computer,
  2. Receive a “free one year subscription to Office 365 when you purchase the computer (quite rare).  If you have trouble with this exact type of “installed” Office, contact HP Support for recovery options.
  3. Purchase Office separately from Microsoft or other merchant.

What if:  “I found Office already installed on the computer.”

Except as noted, any “pre-installed” Office software is a “Trial” version.

Trial software cannot be activated nor can it be “recovered”.

Regardless, Microsoft Office software belongs to - and is under the control of - Microsoft.

How-to

Microsoft - Activate Office

With Key - Install Office on your PC or Mac
