@Jishan49, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your laptop touchpad stopped working after a recent update, let’s work together to get it fixed.
Check if the Touchpad is Disabled
Sometimes updates can change settings.
- Press Fn + F6 (or F5, F9, depending on your model) to toggle the touchpad on/off.
- Alternatively, go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure it’s turned On.
Update or Roll Back the Touchpad Driver
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on the touchpad device (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN, HID-compliant) and choose:
- Update driver → Search automatically.
- If the issue started after an update, try Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver.
Reinstall the Touchpad Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
- If not, download the latest driver from the HP Support Website.
Use HP Support Assistant
HP Support Assistant can automatically detect and fix driver issues:
- Download or open it from here: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Run a hardware check and install any recommended updates.
BIOS Update (Optional but Helpful)
Sometimes BIOS updates improve hardware compatibility:
- Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your laptop model and check for BIOS updates under the BIOS section.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
