My HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 pen writes before touching the screen. Everything says that the pen is compatible with my laptop. I used to be able to recalibrate the screen which would fix the issue for a little while, but now there is no way to recalibrate.

Hi @A_W960,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Pen Sensitivity!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Ensure your laptop has the latest drivers and software updates. This includes graphics drivers and any specific HP software related to pen and touch inputs. You can find updates on the HP Support website.

Reset Touch Settings:

  • Go to your device settings and check the touch and pen input settings. Sometimes resetting these to default can resolve sensitivity issues.

Check Pen Battery Charge:

  • Make sure your pen is fully charged. Low battery levels can sometimes cause erratic behavior.

Clean the Screen:

  • Ensure the screen is clean and free from any smudges or debris. These can interfere with touch sensitivity.

Disable Enhancements:

  • Some laptops have enhancements for pen and touch that can cause issues. Check your control panel or settings to see if any enhancements are enabled and try disabling them.

Test Pen on Another Device:

  • If possible, test your pen on another compatible device to see if the issue persists, which will help determine if the problem is with the pen itself or with your laptop.

I hope this helps.
