Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello, my hp Windows 7 laptop has English as the language for everything (leyboard , locale, region, etc.) However, the Windows Defender language was changed to German, how can I change it back to English? I can't do the Windows Defender updates because of the German language issue.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Click Start , and then click Control Panel.

  2. Under Clock, Language, and Region, click Change display language.

Figure : Clock, Language, and Region

Image of Clock, Language, and Region section in Control Panel
  3. Choose a language from the Choose a display language drop-down list.

    Figure : Region and Language

    Image of Region and Language
  4. Click Apply.

  5. Click Log off now. The next time you log in, the display language is changed.

    Figure : Change Display Language

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi, thanks but the words "Display language         Install or uninstall languages the Windows can use to display text and where ..." do not appear in my Region and Language, Language, whereas they appear in yours, in the screenshot you sent me.

I did click on the blue words that were there , but that just made a box open up to the right of my computer screen, with information that was not helpful

Maybe it's because I never had Clock in 'Clock, Region, Language,'  just only 'Region, Language' ?  And there was no 'Display Language ' beneath that like in yours.   And I'm 64 bit, not 32 bit, sorry.

Thank you.

Thank you Echo. I am doing so right now, but it keeps saying my session Timed Out and I should Retry. Which I did, but it says the same thing, I think it's because it's night here 10:20 pm.  So I will try again in the morning.. I apologize for my late reply. Thank you so much.
