Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. A couple of weeks ago, my laptop just stopped charging randomly. I had it up and running, fully working the day before and the day after when I put in the power source, it just didn't charge. Actually, if I pull out the power cable and then put it back in, it charges for 10 - 15 seconds, then the charging symbol disappears on the battery logo and it stops charging. I can charge it, however, if I turn it off or put it in sleep mode. First I thought the charger didn't provide enough energy and might be broken, so I bought a new one but it's the same with this one, so I suppose it's the computer that is the problem. Any ideas?

@Donkeydodo,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS on your computer from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92001-92500/sp92404.exe

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you follow the below steps and test.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
