Hi @lereau,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's webcam has disappeared and you're receiving error messages like "can't find camera" and "OxA00F4442 No Camera Attached," there are several potential solutions you can try to resolve this issue. Here are some steps you can follow:

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve hardware issues. Restart your laptop and see if the webcam reappears.

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • In the Device Manager window, expand the "Imaging devices" or "Cameras" section.
  • Look for your webcam. If it's not listed or has a yellow triangle icon with an exclamation mark, there may be a driver issue.

Update Webcam Drivers:

  • Right-click on the webcam in Device Manager (if it's listed).
  • Select "Update driver."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to search for and install updated drivers.

Roll Back Webcam Drivers:

  • If updating the drivers doesn't work, you can try rolling back to the previous driver version if available.
  • Right-click on the webcam in Device Manager and select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.

Reinstall Webcam Drivers:

  • If rolling back doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the webcam drivers and then reinstalling them.
  • Right-click on the webcam in Device Manager and select "Uninstall device."
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, Windows updates can include driver updates. Ensure your system is up to date by checking for Windows updates.

BIOS Update:

  • Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve hardware issues.

Physical Connection:

  • Ensure that the webcam is physically connected to the laptop properly. If it's an external webcam, check the USB connection.

Camera Privacy Settings:

  • Check the camera privacy settings in Windows. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure the camera access is enabled for the apps you want to use.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started after a recent software change, you can try using System Restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when the webcam was working correctly.

Hardware Check:

  • If none of the software solutions work, there may be a hardware issue with the webcam itself.

Try these steps one by one, and hopefully, one of them will resolve the issue with your HP laptop's webcam.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
