OMEN by HP 17-cb0028no
Microsoft Windows 11

I can turn the keyboard backlight on and off (Fn+F4) but I can´t change it to "all white light". I used tho have some HP software to change these things (HP OMEN Command Center?) but it´s not on my OMEN pc after reinstalling windows. The OMEN key on the keyboard (between Delete and Prt Sc) is "dead". Any ideas?

/Peter

Hi @fristedt,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to adjust the keyboard backlight color on your OMEN by HP 17-cb0028no, you typically need the OMEN Command Center (now renamed to OMEN Gaming Hub). Since you've reinstalled Windows 11 and the software is missing, follow these steps to restore it and regain control over the backlight settings:

1. Download OMEN Gaming Hub HP PCs - OMEN Gaming Hub

Visit the Microsoft Store:

  1. Open the Microsoft Store on your PC.
  2. Search for OMEN Gaming Hub.
  3. Download and install it.

Alternatively, download it directly from HP's support site.

2. Check for Missing Drivers

  • After installing OMEN Gaming Hub, ensure that all necessary drivers for lighting and keyboard control are installed:
    1. Visit the HP Software and Drivers page.
    2. Enter your product number: 17-cb0028no.
    3. Download and install the latest HP System Event Utility and any other recommended drivers for your model.

3. Re-enable the OMEN Key

  • If the OMEN key is not functioning:
    1. Verify that OMEN Gaming Hub is running.
    2. Test the key to see if it opens the software. If not, check for any BIOS updates on the HP support site that mention enhancements to keyboard functionality.

4. Adjust the Backlight Settings

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub:
    1. Go to the "Lighting" section.
    2. Select the keyboard and configure the backlight to "All White".

5. Troubleshooting

  • If the OMEN Gaming Hub doesn’t detect your keyboard or allow lighting changes:
    • Restart your PC after installation.
    • Ensure that OMEN Gaming Hub Background Service is running:
      • Press Win + R, and type services. msc, and check that the service is enabled and set to automatic.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you so much, Gaya1239, for helping me here. Everything's OK here except for a query about the HP Software and Drivers page.

1. Download OMEN Gaming Hub from the Microsoft Store
It is downloaded and installed OK!

2. Check for Missing Drivers at the HP Software and Drivers page
I visited the page and can only select Windows 10 as the operating system. Should I go ahead with this and download all drivers and updates even though i have Windows 11 installed, or should I wait for the option to select Windows 11 in a future?

3. Re-enable the OMEN Key
This is not working, but as a non-gamer, this is OK with me. I'll start the OMEN Gaming Hub via the Start menu.

Edit: After installing HP System Event Utility (prompted to do that) the Omen Key is working.

4. Adjust the Backlight Settings
I could select the different areas of the keyboard and choose white. OK!
