I have a Victus FA 31dx model. I just hired a technician to replace the board since there was an electrical issue with my house, which is now fixed. I tried using the old battery with the new board; however, it did not work. I ordered a new battery and installed it, but the laptop still does not detect the battery and instantly powers off when it is not connected to the AC adapter. Also, when I do disconnect the computer it says, boot did not authenticate. I then disable secure boot for it to load. I looked at the battery report of the old and new battery. It is giving me a design and full charge capacity of -1mWh. Please give me any tips or advice to solve my battery issue.

Hi @Weeian,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your HP Victus FA31dx model. Here are some steps you may follow to troubleshoot the battery and boot issues:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Battery Connection:

  • Ensure that the battery is properly seated and connected. Sometimes, it may not be fully inserted, or the connector might not be fully engaged with the board.

BIOS Update:

  • Ensure that your BIOS is up to date. Official HP® Support, search for your model, and check if there is a BIOS update available.

Power Reset:

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery if possible.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and the AC adapter and power on your laptop.

Battery Health Check:

  • Use HP Battery Check from the HP Support Assistant to determine if there’s an issue with the battery itself.

Boot Authentication Issue:

  • Enter the BIOS by pressing the appropriate key (usually F10 or Esc for HP laptops) during startup.
  • Verify the boot order and make sure Secure Boot is configured correctly.

Reconnect Cables and Components:

  • As you mentioned a board replacement, ensure that all internal cables are securely connected, particularly those related to power.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
