New laptop overheating even while doing nothing

So I bought a new laptop today. 05/09/20. A HP ENVY x 360 13 Ag 0035au and it is hot. Very hot. Even while I am running basic tasks like chrome or edge or copying files. Hot, very hot. The moment it boots up it goes crazy hot. I have tried drivers even from third party providers. Still it heats up. But there's a catch , now that my laptop is charged to 98 % it is normal and before some hours while it was unplugged it was cool. I don't understand the problem. It stays hot but cools down sometimes. Please help.

@rishabh_ar Click here for steps to resolve overheating issues, you could try reducing the visual effects to make a minor change, also, ensure you are using a cooling pad as well, to be on a safer side.

Here's how you change windows settings to reduce visual effects:

• Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.
• Type performance > choose to Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
• In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.
• click Apply and Ok...this should do the trick.

Hi I did as you told to do so. I had done a battery drain earlier since then it is cool enough but still it heats up at times a bit. I think thats ok. Will keep you posted.Just changed the performance settings. Lets see what it turns out to be.

Seems like that did the trick. That did help and I did a power drain again and now its cool and heats up only when I do extensive or intense work.
